Lockdown Day 17 – Happy Easter
* HAPPY EASTER *
After all the work of the last 16 days, a day of rest and contemplation is warranted!
So – this one is for the adults.
The past two weeks have been stressful – for the world, the continent, the country, the province, the city, the town, the people and the children.
What we (the adults) do in this time of crisis is what the children will learn from, and remember.
Perhaps one silver lining in the dark Covid-19 cloud is the opportunity for families to find each other again. For family meal-times instead of TV dinners. For board games instead of electronic media. For storytelling and reading instead of YouTube.
Many pre- and primary school parents are anxious about schoolwork. This anxiety is transferring to the teachers and the children. We are all in the same boat! School days can be caught up. This ‘extended holiday’ will most likely result in ‘limited holidays’ going forward so that the school days can be caught up. The home and family lessons that the children (and adults) can, however, engage in during this time are invaluable and, in fact vital, for the children’s social foundations and wellbeing.
We have no choice but to stay put until the end of the month. This is a hidden opportunity of togetherness time. Enjoy getting to know each other again, enjoy communicating, enjoy just BEING!
From our homes to yours, we wish you a peaceful Easter Sunday and we will be back with hopefully useful lockdown tips for next 18 days tomorrow!
